Fake “app support” messages: how the scam works

In short

Someone writes as the dating app's support or safety team: your account was “flagged”, you were “selected for verification”, or it will be blocked unless you confirm your details or pay. It's an impersonation designed to grab your login, card or personal data.

How it usually goes

  1. A message from “Support”, “Safety Team” or “Verification Center”.
  2. A threat or a reward: blocking, a violation, a free upgrade.
  3. A link to a login page or a request for card details or a code.
  4. Your account or money is taken.

  3. Report the message and the profile.
